The Bearcats claimed the Junior Varsity D2 crown with a 12-0 win over SPX. The Bearcats grabbed the lead late in the first half, and then clinched it with a 2 play 99 yard drive in the second half. The Cats end the year at 10-0, while the Tigers finish at 7-3.
The second game of the evening saw a rematch that was over two months in the making. The Wildcats held the ball the entire 10 minutes of the first quarter moving into the wind before finally scoring on the first play of the second quarter. Before the half had ended, STA had built a 20-8 lead. St Rita fought gamely in the second half to stay close, but eventually ran out of time in a 26-14 contest. STA ends a perfect season at 11-0 while the Spartans close the season 9-2, with both defeats coming to STA.
The nightcap lacked drama as the powerful Pack Attack seized command early and never let go in a 43-6 victory. SPX fought hard despite being severely short-handed in the game. The Tigers never say quit attitude was rewarded on the final play of the game, a beautiful 50 yard strike from Puskarich to
Aviles. The Packers were led by the 1-2 punch of Sawa and Winslow throughout the evening, and even received a booming 30 yard field goal, into a stiff wind from Ben
Donelli. The victory was the 2nd Catholic Bowl title for St Paul in three years. They end their season at 11-0 while the Tigers close at 9-3.
